I'm Emily, a dedicated nonprofit leader and fundraiser with
a passion for building meaningful relationships and driving transformative change.

My career grew out of volunteer management, and I believe strongly in engaging with supporters at all levels, connecting them to the mission and cultivating them toward increased involvement.

I have extensive experience working with board members and excel in fostering effective collaboration at the executive level. My expertise enables me to support and guide board members, ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfill their roles.

I have 20 years of experience working with local, regional, and national nonprofits in the Greater DC Areas, managing organization-wide projects, collaborating with executive leadership and creating cross-departmental teams. I enjoy building relationships and understand how to bring a team together when each area has its own priorities and its own timelines.

My approach to philanthropy is rooted in collaboration, integrity, and a deep commitment to mission-driven work.
I empower teams to achieve bold goals and am passionate about mentoring emerging professionals and guiding them as they discover their enthusiasm for fundraising.

While at Volunteer Fairfax, I Increased organizational funding by 47%, partnering with the Executive Director and Board to build an annual fundraising plan that increased corporate, foundation and individual giving. I managed relationships with local and national corporations, facilitated volunteer placement and supported Board members’ individual fundraising plans.

At Girls on the Run of NOVA, I increased total contributed income by 27%, collaborating with the Executive Director to steward Board engagement and creating outreach strategies to steward corporate relationships and secure new sponsorships. I launched new fundraising events, recruiting and empowering Event Chairs, committee members and a 14-person Associate Board to fundraise and friend-raise.

I first joined Washington National Cathedral as the Director of Development & Congregational Stewardship and in my first year I managed a portfolio of 80+ prospects and increased congregational giving by 27%. I was then tapped to lead the Cathedral's most ambitious fundraising initiative to date: A Cathedral for the Future.

While directing the organization’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign in the more than 30 years since the building was completed, I partnered with the Chief Development Officer on a multi-year plan to meet our capital and unrestricted fundraising goals, and to expand the pipeline of new supporters. I partnered with executive staff and board members to engage leadership donors. We raised more than 123% of the 5-year comprehensive campaign goal; securing a total of $185 million.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Forensic & Investigative Science from West Virginia University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University Honors Program. While there, I joined Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity and saw the power of local nonprofits to impact their communities. Still an active volunteer, I am currently a Troop Leader with Girl Scouts Nations Capital and the Head Usher at our Episcopal Church.
