Turning Volunteers Into Donors

Volunteering is closely associated with donating. A study by the Harris Poll showed that Americans who volunteer give 11 times as much money to charity annually as those who do not volunteer.

Will Asking My Volunteers Offend Them?

Asking a volunteer to donate is not a cold ask. It’s more like asking a current donor to increase their gift. Your volunteers already know how important your work is. They care enough to give their time and skills. Why not ask them to give a financial donation as well?

Thank First, Then Ask

It starts with gratitude. Let your volunteers know how much you appreciate the time and talent they share.

Then be honest. Let them know financial support is needed to run the programs they love. Ask them to give some of the money needed to accomplish your shared mission.
